Our elementary students need more access to build upon their personal knowledge, interests, and imaginations. A Maker Space is an area where they will be able to do just that.
The students need a space in the library where they can take their imagination and knowledge and turn them into personal creations.
This will be extremely beneficial for students that may struggle expressing themselves with language, but are capable of creating amazing and interesting products.
These supplies will allow us to create a Maker Space in the Library Media Center. The Legos and Building kits will provide the students with the opportunity to build and create imaginative worlds and simple machines. Maker Spaces are meant to serve as a place for students to think, create, reflect, and improve. Each month I plan to assign different challenges that can be completed using the provided resources. Students who complete the challenge will be given a small reward and acknowledge on a "Maker Mural".
It will allow students to have fun while using their critical thinking skills to create a product. Students will take responsibility for their learning, motivating them to become independent and lifelong learners.
