Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
The items I have selected are each picked to meet individual students needs for their own sensory diet, helping them to calm themselves.
Autism has a variety of aspects that causes our children to react differently to different situations, the items that were selected will give a wide range of calming sensations that would benefit multiple behaviors. This will help with transitions throughout their school day to be more successful and to promote a better learning environment.
