Most my kindergartners have never been in a school setting before. Most come from limited income families and have not been exposed to the rigorous expectations that are placed upon them at such a young age. My school is restructuring their approach at teaching our wonderfully bright "at risk" students. We are implementing more developmentally appropriate strategies for supporting the achievement of these early learners, while maintaining the high rigor of their academic instruction.
