As a teacher of first grade students, many of our lessons involve spending a lot of our time on the floor. This is where we have our morning meet and greet, and almost all reading, phonics and math lessons are done in whole group circle time on the floor. Also, most of our learning centers are done on the floor. They sit or lay on blankets on the cold floors.
Though they do not complain, I would love to offer them a carpet for a cozy, warmer space to learn in. Many of my students are not living in their own homes and move from place to place due to Hurricane Harvey, and I would like to provide them with a stable and inviting learning environment.
