Reading of course is a daily thing in a classroom. We have moved to a time of technology and sometimes forget the importance of a good book in our hands. So during a time of EOG's, technology, and reading passages I want my students to still experience a good book in their hands. I could read this book aloud and have them listen, but its just not the same as holding that book, following along and reading with me.
By donating to my project you will not only help my class with this book, but we will gladly share our experience with the entire fourth grade at our school - so that is about 140 students total each year.
Our fourth grade curriculum for Social Studies is North Carolina History. This book integrates Social Studies and English Language Arts together. Serafina (the chapter book) takes place in the Biltmore Estate that is a huge piece of history right here in North Carolina. So students will get to enjoy reading, and social studies through a fun medieval times-science fiction book.
