The resources that I have chosen for this project will allow my students the choice and flexibility to sit in a quiet or more comfortable area of our classroom. Flexible seating allows students to choose an area where they feel they can do their best work. They can cozy up with a book, work on a writing assignment, or work with their partner or team.
In funding this project you will give students the freedom to be themselves and feel in control of their learning. Right now students have the opportunity to sit in various areas of the room, at other tables, or on pillows on the rug. There are limited options and not everyone can relocate at the same time. I am looking to expand their options and create a more inviting and motivating atmosphere. The bean bag chairs will allow students who like to wiggle the ability to do so as they work. The stacking chairs and the comfy floor seats will give students the option of sitting in a small group. With limited space they are ideal for neatly putting them aside until the next activity. The flex lap desks are a wonderful tool for those students who like to be away from their desk but need a little support. It allows them the security of a desk while away from their desk.
I have seen how motivating and beneficial flexible seating can be and would love to be able to offer my students more options and create an atmosphere of creativity and discovery
