My students need games and activities that focus on phonics skills that help them become literate. My students come from homes that do not have anyone to read to them. The listening center will give my students the ability to listen to good reading. Statistics show that reading to and with your child everyday will increase their language vocabulary and reading success. Sight word games will help my students learn their words in a fun way. Interactive phonic games help with spelling and reading acquisition. We spend our day interacting through play.
We need to bridge this gap by making reading fun and engaging. Games will encourage practice through play. Also teaching how to work independently or together to achieve a goal.
I want my students to practice phonic skills without loosing interest. Reading fluency takes practice, practice and more practice. My students will learn that effort and perseverance will allow them to achieve many things. Let's make reading fun!
