Imagine nonverbal, Pre-K level students in the same classroom as grade level functioning 10th graders(and everything in between). In fact we can serve the students until they turn 22 years old. We are an alternative learning behavior program. All students have disabilities and are at severe risk with behavior and/or emotional challenges. The biggest challenge for me with these students is to not only meet the needs of their disabilities, but to inspire them with new and alternate ways of achieving goals. It's hard enough to motivate high school students without disabilities these days. Many of my students could be mistaken to be socially "normal". Meaning, until you get to know these students you may not even know they have a disability. They like to be "cool" and want all the new "cool" things on the market. Blending learning with something "cool" could be great!
