I coach Robotics at Sevier Middle School. My students learn to design, build and code robots. More importantly they learn how to work in groups, and problem solve through hands on experiences. 8 years ago I started my program with 20 students from all 3 grade levels divided into 5 teams. The past two years, my program has grown to such an extent that I now coach over 40 kids from only 7th and 8th grade and divide them into 8 teams. This past year one of my teams was able to compete at the VEX Worlds competition. They competed against teams from over 40 countries in the worlds. My sixth grade students ask every year if they can join robotics, and I have to sadly tell them that I just don't have the resources to accommodate their request and interest.
