My students come from various cultures but most have one thing in common, generational poverty. Our school is a Title I school with a high transiency rate in Las Vegas, Nevada. I teach lovable first graders who want to learn but have very limited resources at home. We have a high English Language Learners population where many children speak English at school and their first language at home. These students are in need of extra literacy experiences to help them succeed in school.
