As a Math Specialist, Third, Fourth and Fifth Graders will rotate through my classroom for math instruction. Each grade level will join me for whole group instruction and differentiated small group workplaces. We believe in a hands-on approach to teaching math. We start by building a foundation of conceptual understanding and then moving toward procedural mastery. Along with this approach to teaching math comes lots and LOTS of manipulatives.
With approximately 72 students across three grade levels it is imperative to have organizational systems in place to maximize our learning time. These materials will support smooth transitions, effective use of materials and fun hands-on discovery of math fundamentals.
