Blending is a crucial skill in learning to read since being able to mentally join speech sounds together to make words helps students to decode unfamiliar words using letter-sound patterns when reading. Difficulties with the ability to blend is a hallmark of the struggling reader.
Magnetic letters allow students to see how the word is broken down and how to match the sounds with the letters correctly.
This allows my struggling readers to think before they read a word. Think about the letters and sounds. Learning to read affects my students' long term because every aspect of life is based on reading.
I am a special education teacher and funding is not received for printers. I need to be able to quickly access assignments and assessments for my students such as blending booklets and practice worksheets we can complete as a class. I need to be able to quickly print IEPs (Individualized Education Plan) at parents request. The ink is requested so I am able to print any information regarding IEPs or any information regarding the lessons I am teaching at that moment in class.
