Each Spring, our fifth and sixth grade students put on a Rock Band Concert as the capstone project of our school music program. Students look forward to this concert all year and truly enjoy the process of picking songs, creating arrangements, and practicing in preparation for the concert.
Larger class sizes in fifth and sixth grade this year mean that we do not have enough instruments for all students to play at once.
The Rock Band program at our school was created thanks to private donations and fundraising money. The ongoing costs of our music room are funded by the district. This helps to support the repair and replacement of instruments, as well as yearly costs like strings, picks, cables, and music. Even with support from the district, the larger class sizes demand that instruments be added faster than the budget will allow.
Adding two additional guitars, two amps, and two electronic drum sets will bring our total instruments high enough for an entire class to play at the same time. For the past three years, the percussion for our songs has been played on small Cajon drums. The addition of traditional drum sets will give us a more authentic band sound and let students experience a new musical skill.
Thank you for considering supporting our project!
