Our students have been remote learning since school started in mid-August. This has been difficult for all teachers and students at our school, but especially our 9th graders! Our 9th graders have come from many different middle schools and haven't yet had the chance to really meet each other since we are fully remote. It has been difficult for them to get to know their classmates, participate in school extracurriculars and school spirits activities, and in general feel like they are a part of the school community. My colleague and I are both 9th grade biology teachers and want them to know that they are important to us and are a big part of our school community. We have decided to send our 9th graders small holiday packages that they will be mailed out right before our district's holiday break. This would be a great morale booster and a special way to connect without students even though we can't physically be in the classroom with them right now.
