Flexible seating has proven to be beneficial in my classroom. It allows learning to be collaborative, engaging, and fun- exactly what education should be. I allow the students to pick somewhere in the room, that will be the best environment for them to learn. However, currently we do not have many options. I am requesting a flex space collaborative floor work space. This will include one low to the floor table and four seats that can be used with this low table. This project will help boost our flexible seating options in the classroom. Students will have additional places to do work other than their desks.
Flexible seating allows the students to take responsibility for their learning. They get the power to choose what helps them focus best. Responsibility over their own learning and choices is an important lesson that I focus on in 3rd grade.
Not only will this project help my students build a stronger community of learners, but they will also help build young adults. Instead of sitting in desks all day, this project will give my students another space in the room to learn.
