My classroom library is comfortable, cozy, and creative. Our classroom theme is Western so students are invited into the "Reading Ranch" to read books while sitting on wobble chairs, cushions, or laying on bean bag chairs. Students are encouraged to read when they are early finishers and during Independent Reading Time. Roald Dahl were chosen for our Roald Dahl author study at the end of the year. We have sets of Charlie and the Chocolate Facotory and the BFG, but my students are eager to read more Dahl books. They love how his books include crazy vocabulary, adult villains, and child narrators. The books also include leveled book sets so they can progress as they read more and more. My students are also ready to prep for Fourth Grade by reading Wonder and Harry Potter books.
Yeehaw, my students are READY TO READ MORE! My students need better resources to meet their needs. Plenty of my students are reading above grade level and my classroom books are not on level. The students and I picked out books that would benefit them the most.
