My students need cooperative games such as Count Your Chickens, Snug as a Bug, Friends and Neighbors, Hoot Owl Hoot, Stone Soup, and more. Games will be used during speech and language therapy.
All of these games can be used to work on social skills, such as turn taking, listening, paying attention, and working together to gain pragmatic skills often targeted by my speech and language students. Many of my students are not provided with opportunities to play "old fashioned" board games. Most students are "plugged in" the majority of the day. Unfortunately, these students are not able to learn these very important pragmatic skills that board games can teach!
