Flexible seating is a great way to foster learning in my classroom. During independent work times, my students love to work around the room. I allow them to choose a spot in the classroom that they feel suits them best. Some of my students choose to stay at their desk, while others love to lay in the floor or stand at a table. I have found that my students are motivated and excited to learn when they receive a choice in their seating.
With these new flexible seating options, my students will have the opportunity to take their learning to a whole new level! The products I have selected for my classroom will allow my students to take control of their learning environment by choosing a seat that will help them learn best. Some of my students have a hard time focusing, because they have a very high energy level. Sitting at a desk all day causes that energy to come out in inappropriate ways. Wobble seats and plastic stools will give my high-energy students a way to get some of their energy out without distracting the other students. Bean bags and cushions will offer the rest of my class a comfortable place to sit or lay while they are learning and working on their assignments.
