Our school recognizes the importance of integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with our core subject areas. As the media coordinator, developer of our school's makerspace, and STEM teacher, it is my goal to inspire my students to use design thinking in their learning as this will be crucial to lifelong learning.
With Cubelets and well developed lesson plans, students will be able to learn about robotics while exploring other subjects such as the senses, behavior, the human body, data collecting, engineering, and design thinking. For example, a 5th grade class can practice observing behavior with the integration of different Cubelet pieces; making predictions and testing the behaviors of their robots as they put different pieces together. Lesson plans are available for students from Pre-K through grade 12.
The use of these robots will take place in the makerspace, the classroom with the collaboration of classroom teachers, and our STEM club.
