Students with traumatic backgrounds stemming from COVID 19 and their home environments, are those who have a hard time getting the past out of their sweet minds. It has been found that students who can tune out what's around them, helps heal the mind in more ways than we could ever imagine. Students in my classroom are in need of noise-canceling headphones as well as headphones to listen to calming music in the "relax" area of the classroom.
"Resilience isn't a single skill. It's a variety of skills." My students enjoy learning especially quiet activities in Science and Social Studies. This is something they can take to the "relax" area and work on it by themselves while listening to music or have no noise at all.
