To create positive hands-on learning and to mimic our learning with problem-based learning in my classroom, I believe STEM bins will help my students grow. In addition to creating STEM bins for morning work tubs, brain breaks, indoor recess, activities, etc. I have asked for help in purchasing items for our clam down corner which helps my trauma-based students.
In my STEM bins, I need anything and everything hands-on to help these students learn. I have asked for help in purchasing LEGOS and LEGO plates to aid in growth with different activities with fractions, multiplication, symmetry, etc. Another item I need for STEM bins is the foam geometric shapes which my students will use to help build different figures working on symmetry and patterns.
My students often need brain breaks or a chance to calm down and get refocused. In doing this, we have created a "calm down corner" within my classroom. Students are able to use this while still learning and listening to instruction. Items needed for my corner are the 5 minute sand timer as well as the amazing fidget accessory pack. This will really help my students who need to refocus.
