These materials will help the students explore some of the natural resources that the area has to offer. These resources that I'm asking for will be able to help students expand and enhance their math, language arts, reading social studies and especially science skills as they learn to value and appreciate their area through project based learning. Many of these students comes from lives that are highly mobile and chaotic and giving them a way to see the world around them in a micro and macro level will help connect with the material. Then the goal is to connect it with ways to give back to the community by preserving some of the oral histories.
The microscope will be an essential tool to bridge the learning of how the students can connect to other areas and habitats. I believe that giving the students the opportunities to explore outside the classroom walls will enrich their knowledge and being able to provide clip boards, magnifying glasses, compasses and slides will be able to help the students make learning come alive.
