I have read this story aloud for the past five years to my students. The story is even more popular since the movie came out. However, the novel has so much more to offer than a movie can cover. It’s impact on class climate and acceptance is integral to the start of a new school year. The novel is expensive for me to buy so each student has a copy. Having a copy for each student will allow us to read and discuss even more thoroughly. By reading this book as a class students discover together what it means to be kind.
