Students' with autism and other learning disabilities often have a difficult time processing sensory inputs and outputs. Through this project students would be able to gain access to equipment, that along with teaching skills, will build their abilities to cope and adapt to changes in their sensory environment.
Through teaching skills using specialized equipment in a safe environment students will be able to develop and activate their senses. This will help decrease anxieties and behaviors, increase social play, and encourage socialization, cognitive development and motor development. This can be accomplished using bubble tubes, steamrollers, sensory boards and others items from southpaw.
