A growing need in our school is the accessibility to power; as the world adapts to becoming more tech-centered, so has our student population. Our students need to have a central location where they can plug in devices or check out devices to use in their classrooms. Not every student owns a smartphone or tablet, which is one reason why the school district decided to provide an equal learning opportunity for all students by providing every student with a Chromebook starting the 2018-2019 school year.
As more students get devices, the demand for power increases.
A library is known for providing the resources needed for students to succeed, and charging stations would be a much-appreciated resource our students will need. I believe that these stations would entice and encourage students to want to use the library more, and for some students, they may make all the difference in their educational experience (one example: if a student comes from divorced parents who happened to have left their charger at the other parent's house, which is common at our school, and needs to charge the device for the next class period). Students have a need for these charging stations, and the stations would provide opportunities for students that are currently not available in the library.
