Our school is entering year three of its garden program. Beautiful boundaries have been planted, compost stations have been set up, and sheds and tools have been purchased. Now we are transitioning into organizing our beds.
The raised-beds will allow us to organize our school garden by grade levels, so we can conduct experiments, plant natives, and slow erosion caused by water run-off. This will be one of the last steps in creating an outdoor learning environment that supports STEM, cultural connections, social emotional learning, and a positive school environment.
Our goal is to continue and expand the learning experiences we have already had over the past two years: farmer's markets, classroom meals, science experiments, social studies lessons, and fundraising.
