The books requested have been carefully researched and selected for their interest levels and readability levels. The population of students that I work most closely with is made up of middle school students who are still struggling with basic reading skills. Therefore, typical middle school libraries are daunting and discouraging.
Students who struggle to read at the secondary level need access to high quality literature. By placing appropriately leveled, relevant books in the hands of my students, my students will be able to experience success and make progress. I have selected books that will be used as resources for my struggling readers. I want my students to have access to a range of reading materials, including graphic novels like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Big Nate, and multicultural literature.
