Our school is lucky to be able to use an online reading and mathematics intervention program. Students are provided an entirely individualized instruction based on correct and incorrect answers, response times, and demonstrated mastery. Students are asked to bring to school their own earbuds or headphones so that each child can avoid straining to hear directions over his or her many neighbors' computers. My students are unable to bring in ear buds to use during our computer lab time twice weekly; their families cannot provide these tools. If every child has ear buds, that means every child can hear their individualized computer lessons in reading and math each week. If every child has earbuds, that means more productive use of a learning tool that our school has worked hard to provide. Hearing means listening, and listening means learning! Help my third graders focus and listen well during computer time twice weekly. Imagine the sound of 26 children learning and following their own individualized instruction!
