Just like any child, my students deserve access to reading and learning in an environment that develops students as life long learners. By using novels to study key concepts in literature and meet CCSS, students do not feel as though they are learning in a rigid classroom environment but instead feel as though they bonding with each other and growing as little humans.
Each novel I have selected, teach students important life lessons through novel study. These materials will allow students to do just that and will also allow them to develop as leaders in the classroom. When students have a novel for each of the four marking periods, they are able to begin to run their own novel studies by the second half of the year. This allows students to be in control of their own learning, giving them ownership of their eduction, and engaging them fully into our curriculum.
