The project is about supporting our students towards building satellites to analyze the climatic condition and to see the effect of different temperature and pressure on everyday things like aero-gels, seeds, sound travel, etc., and this can be done by launching the working satellites using a weather balloon to the stratosphere. This is a near space mission – the satellite will reach the height of 110,000 feet before it starts descending.
The students are using different sensors to records multiple atmospheric aspects and they would also like to do landscape analysis and for that purpose, we need sports cameras. This is an after-school program. With the sports camera, the students will be able to take pictures of the landscape and will be able to record videos at different altitudes. Our plan is to compile all the pictures and videos to make a virtual experience for all our students to see how the landscape view changes at different altitude. They can also check for visibility at different altitudes for that particular day's weather condition. This experience is something that we can use as a learning tool for teaching in our general ed science classroom.
