These magazines and books will continue to enhance our print-rich classroom and connect our classroom to our at home learning. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Even now, I read First Chapter Fridays from the library most weeks and the students listen from home.
The students love to learn about our world around them from the Scholastic Magazines. It takes them all over the world, as do the books in our library. All of books have been chosen with my students in mind as I have asked them what they enjoy reading the most. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. As we learn from home, students are able to borrow books and bring them back using our "borrowing system."
With these new books and magazines, my students will be able to choose and learn from a variety of genres that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose stories that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books and magazines will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
