My focus with my students is truly on the RF and RL standards in 1st grade. My students have a wide range of skills from struggling to know letter names and sounds to reading at a high 2nd grade level. The students will better be able to work on their phonics skills to improve their reading. This will be done by working on letter names and sounds through various tools that are requested. I am also working on things to help my students focus and release their energy in a more constructive way so they can concentrate on what we are working on in the classroom.
I will be working in small groups, meeting my students at their level, but also pushing them to grow with using many of these supplies. This is the first time in 4 years that I have taught phonics and need to expand my base of supplies and tools I have for my students.
While working with my students they also look for a reward. We have lunch very early in the day and by the end they are usually hungry for a little snack. These will be great to help my students.
