Getting accepted into college as a first-generation, low-income, underrepresented student is difficult. Even more difficult, however, is funding all of the expenses that come with higher education. WHS is hosting their annual Decision Day in May to celebrate our students choosing to move forward with education, military, and career training or certification programs. On this day, we hope to help some of our seniors by providing them with educational materials for next year.
Giving my students access to this laptop, tablet, and other organizational tools will improve accessibility to their educational and career goals. This will make it simpler for them to access their schoolwork and stay organized with the many tasks college students face. The smaller the financial burden, the more they can prioritize their schoolwork. My students work equally as hard as their more affluent peers, and money should not be a barrier to their education.
