Students in my future first grade class need easy access to multiple books. As emergent readers, it is so important for young children to feel comfortable with reading and to know that there are various titles at their finger tips.
I have chosen the classics to fill my library such as "The Giving Tree," "The Napping House," "The Cat in the Hat," "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," etc. Students will listen intently to these classics as they sit with their peers on the classroom carpet. They will also use them to master the many 1st grade reading standards.
For the past two years, I have taught 4th grade math and science; I have not had a need to create a classroom library until now! Teaching in the primary grades has been my dream! Please help me fill my reading nook so that I can help foster a love for reading in the hearts of my first graders. "The more you read, the more you'll know. The more you know, the more places you'll go." -Dr. Suess-
