My students are incredible! They embrace the safety and security of our classroom. This allows them to grow exponentially as individuals and in group settings. I love to emphasize their creativity and their love for community. Sometimes this involves the school and home community working in unison. One example, in one of our lessons they learned of kids that worked together to save endangered turtles. The kids were inspired. So as a grade level we reached out to the local animal shelter and discovered they needed blankets, toys and bedding. They worked in small groups creating posters, videos, presentations, donation boxes, flyers, etc and then collected, sorted and distributed all the donations to the very appreciative local animal shelter. They felt so much pride knowing that even they can make a difference. My students ROCK!
