My students receive free breakfast and lunch, as a result of the economic hardship in the community. For many of them, this is the only place they receive a healthy meal. Many of my students come from single family or low-income households, without the means to provide their students with the necessary school supplies for the year. Many of our scholars have experienced indescribable hardships and are wise beyond their years in the ways of the world, but are behind academically. I want to help them achieve academic success.
I believe that our scholars deserve the best educational experience and that we need to work together with families, schools and the community, to provide them with the skills necessary to have the most opportunities to thrive.
