These materials will give my students access to STEAM opportunities, and supplies to grow their own creations and their minds. Not only will they have the chance to engineer their own ideas, they will be learning about diversity and inclusiveness at the same time.
The building blocks, Lewos, and marble maze will allow my students the chance to foster community building among each other in our classroom, as well as independent work time by building unique structures as a team and on their own. We will use the multicultural craft supplies throughout the school year, but particularly during our social studies unit on Diversity. Students who do not have a chance to be represented by the standard crayon/marker colors will be excited to use the multicultural materials to show how diverse each person in our classroom is.
My students will be able to use all of these supplies to reach across our curriculum and relate what they are learning to what they can do with it in their own lives today, and in the future.
