The materials I am requesting will undoubtedly help my students to focus and increase their learning and productivity during small group and whole group instruction. My students will be given choices of where to sit, allowing for a variety of seating options throughout the week. I am requesting a couple of tables for an alternative to desk seating.
The wobble stools, cushions, and stability balls will allow for my students to remain moving throughout the day. The wobble stools require students to balance while sitting, which centers their sensory output and leads to less disruptive behaviors. The stability balls will allow students to bounce and wiggle while still remaining seated. The wobble cushions can be used on a chair or even on the floor at the lowered tables. For students who prefer to sit in a chair, bouncy bands will be available to put on their chair to increase non-disruptive movement.
My 21st century students will be able to get simple, yet needed motion every day. The ability to wiggle and move, yet still learn will be vital to my students' success.
