Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to make choices that directly impact their learning. When children have a say in their learning, it makes them feel like they are responsible for their learning, which gives them a level of independence that allows them to grow academically and socially. Flexible seating is a way to incorporate personalized learning into our classroom. Children have different learning modalities, and flexible seating gives them the option to find what works best for them.
When children are given seating options, they feel like they have a say in their learning. The floor seats that I chose will help my students by giving them new seating options to make more effective learning choices. Their backs are adjustable, so that students can chose the level of support that they need. They're also lightweight and easy to store.
My students currently use bean bags and pillows that I've purchased in order to transition into offering flexible seating options, and I have already noticed a change in their level of engagement. Having additional options will make a big impact on their learning.
