With the purchase of this 3D printer, my classroom will be revolutionized in the field of STEM and real-world applications. The students will be able to design 3 dimensional objects and tangibly create them for real-world applications. I plan to incorporate their learning into solving planetary problems. By using 3D printing, my students will be engaged more deeply in their lessons and develop new and creative ways to help excel in a ever changing world. Benefits of 3D printing for my classroom: 1. It will improve my students' participation: keeping students engaged can be challenging, especially when the subject is difficult and requires hands-on attention. 2. It will help promote active learning: being able to interact with a subject at every stage of the lesson helps students grasp the subject matter and retain information. 3. Assist in encouraging creative thinking: being able to try new things, test theories, and think more creatively will aid the engineering and technology learning process. 4. Turns subjects and learning into future careers: the research I have found has shown that there is a lack of students pursuing STEM subjects. Our learning outcomes and goals for our first lesson is to design, create, and prototype a small scale bridge that could be used on the town's nature trail. In this lesson, the students will design, print, and assemble components of a bridge that will span a gap of at least 10 inches and hold 11 pounds of mass, which represents the true capacity of the full scale. Students will use the 3D model and print as a means of building their bridge.
