In Pre-kindergarten, the curriculum is very hands-on. Much of what the children do and learn is from the use of various manipulatives. In Math and science the items that I requested such as the magnetic pattern block builders and building brick STEM challenge kit will help the students learn problem solving skills. the pattern block builders will help to develop skills in patterning, spatial reasoning, describing and naming shapes, and give students an early look at geometry. The building brick STEM activities paired with various questions are a fun and exciting way to engage students. These fun no-prep building block STEM challenges have students thinking outside the box as they work to design. The language arts manipulatives such as the bean bags and float and find alphabet bubbles, assist in developing skills in identifying uppercase and lowercase letters, alphabet knowledge, letter-sound correspondence and identifying beginning sounds allowing the students to learn in a fun environment where they don't even realize they are learning. The molding dough and playstix will assist those students that have issues with their fine motor skills. Most of the manipulative that I have now, other than those that I have bought on my own, have been here since the opening of the school. They truly need to be replaced and updated.
