I believe that a preschooler learns better with hands-on experiences. One of the best places to have those hands-on experiences is in dramatic play. Preschoolers learn how to use thier imagination, sharing, taking turns, and problem solving in dramatic play. Most importantly, my preschoolers learn to dream big in dramatic play. This is where they learn that they can be anything at all, when they grow up. Yes, they can be a doctor, or a veterinarian, or a teacher. I try to change my dramatic play area as much as possible and include materials for the students to enhance their imaginative experience. However, I do not have enough materials to support certain units, such as gardening. I would like for my students to know that we do not just put flower and vegetable seeds in the ground, but we have to take care of them. The items I ordered will help me support their dreams by continuing to introduce them to new things. For example, adding the Dramatic Play Kids Watering Can, Dramatic Play Kids Garden Tote with tools, Pretty Belt Watering Can, and the Happy Giddy Garden Tool Belt will be very beneficial in providing a fun, learning experience for my students. It will help me teach my students about taking responsibilities, math skills, patience, and planning/organizing. Ultimately, we would transfer our garden tools outside for a more real-life experience by planting a preschool garden This will allow me to support their learning using the senses and healthy eating. The Animals Set, Pretend Play ATM, Costume Restaurant Set w/ apron, menu, and order book, and Condiments will allow my students the opportunity to use their imagination. The Kit Ironing Board with Iron Set and Laundry Basket will provide an opportunity for me to teach the students about life skills.
