Imaginative play is crucial in early childhood development. This type of play enhances social skills, self-help/adaptive skills, problem solving, and language/communication skills.
Furniture for this area of the classroom is so versatile and used in many different ways. Each month we transform our classroom with different themes. The imaginative play area will transform into a house play area, grocery store, an elf workshop, winter wonderland, doctors office/veterinary clinic, jungle, and garden. This furniture will be used for all themes!
Students with various disabilities often struggle with social skills, self-help/adaptive skills, problem solving, and language/communication skills. This area would provide great opportunities for them to practice these skills in a safe and supportive environment.
