I have inclusion ASD students, as well as students with ADHD and multiple learning disabilities. These students have difficulty sitting still and controlling their movements. This tends to hinder their ability to focus and absorb the information presented.
We are requesting lap desks, floor chairs, bouncy bands, garden seat cushions, and clipboards to allow them to work comfortably based on their needs.
These flexible seating options will allow my students to move in ways that are appropriate, as well as, allow them to stay focused on their assignments and lessons. With these flexible seating options, it will allow my students to become more successful because they will have an outlet to move and still work on their assignments. Students need multiple ways to release their energy, these will make this process easier for them.
