Most students will agree that PE is their favorite time of the school day. They play games, run around, explore new equipment and movement concepts, but most of all my students love to move with MUSIC. Whether they are playing a competitive game, completing a warm up poster, or walking laps around the track/field they always ask for the music to be playing.
Music encourages movement, and movement is a crucial part in a child's development. This iPod will allow my students to have access to music during PE class. My younger students (KG-2nd) love to warm up to songs that get them jumping, stretching, and twisting. My older students (3rd-5th) are less likely to ask how many more exercises when they are working out to an upbeat song. Why do runners listen to music while they track their miles? Why do cooperate gyms play music while people lift weights? Because music encourages us to give a little more, try a little harder, and maybe even enjoy the art of exercise.
