Whiteboards encourage every student to participate in a lesson. It is an amazing way for students to display what they know by writing an answer or solving a math problem. I will use the mobile whiteboard as an instructional tool as I present a topic to my students. We travel from classroom to classroom, so mobility is essential! The markers are needed along with erasers to ensure that each student has the proper materials needed for the whiteboards.
Whiteboards can be used in whole group lessons as well as small groups.
They are a great way to keep students focused. After I model a math problem for my students, they can then do similar problems on their individual whiteboards. By providing my students with these boards, I can teach through a "gradual release of responsibility", where the goal is student independence and mastery of our math curriculum.
