The materials included in my project will help to create a comfortable feel in my classroom. I have students learning for nearly half of the school day in the extended resource setting with such a versatility in their academic needs. The flex seating and community rug will provide them with that sense of comfort so they are ready to learn.
The early reader texts as well as the feelings texts in my project will be beneficial for all of them. I chose to incorporate lower level texts that are aligned with the majority of my students' reading levels. I have some students who also possess difficulties with maintaining a positive attitude and regulating their emotions throughout the day, especially when demands become challenging. For this reason, I chose to include feelings texts in my project that they can sit down with in my calm down corner and read through to find coping strategies that can help them to regulate their emotions and re-engage with their academics.
