Most of my students are struggling reader, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has not made it any better. The materials I wish to acquire will help to develop the interest of reading in my students and also to connect with the life, struggles, accomplishments and successes of characters in a variety of texts. I hope the life of other can inspire my students to work hard to accomplish their goals and to think more critically about what they read.
As a child growing, particularly in fifth-grade, I did not like reading because my teacher was not excited about reading and would not provide her students with texts that would cater interest. I am a different type of teacher, and I want to leave an indelible mark on my students and to develop good reading habits. Also, students not only need a good book, but they need to learn about the lives of others to appreciate what they have and envision what they can become.
About my class
