These items will help support my students visually. Harsh fluorescent lighting can make reading and classwork challenging. Creating a calm peaceful environment has a positive effect on student performance. It also helps to reduce anxiety which can be heightened when learning new material or when taking tests. Covering the lights will help with this. The large maps will also help so that my students have a large visual representation of the places we read and study about. Students will be able to easily use the maps as a reference when discussing different topics and global issues from around the world.
