The Code-a-Pillar and Robot Mouse will help provide computer science skills for my young scholars. These "unplugged" activities allow them to develop CS vocabulary and experiences which are engaging and fun. My scholars will have opportunities to communicate their ideas, collaborate and problem solve as they develop a better understanding of computational thinking.
Working in centers, scholars will have challenges at each station for their Code-a-Pillar or Robot Mouse to complete. These challenges will allow our young programmers to learn about directions, sequence and debugging. The Code-a-Pillar and Robot Mouse are excellent introduction tools for my scholars to computer science and coding. These hands-on activities will help support our ELLs language development as well.
